An Ohio woman is facing federal charges after attempting to open an airplane door mid-flight on a Southwest Airlines flight from Nashville to Phoenix. The woman, seated in the last row, told a flight attendant she wanted to exit through the back door. She had to be physically restrained by crew members and retired correctional officers onboard as passengers. The captain diverted the plane to Oklahoma City, where the woman was removed by officers. The incident happened on May 22, but new details are just now being reported.
The woman faces charges of interference with flight crew members and attendants, with a potential 20-year prison sentence if convicted.
