Clemency is being granted for a death row inmate scheduled to receive a lethal injection in Oklahoma on Thursday. Governor Kevin Stitt commuted 46-year-old Tremane Wood's death sentence after the Pardon and Parole Board issued an uncommon clemency recommendation last week. Wood was sentenced to die for his role in the stabbing death of a 19-year-old migrant farmworker during a botched robbery attempt at a Oklahoma City hotel on New Year's Day in 2002. Stitt has only granted clemency once during his nearly seven year tenure as Governor.
