The University of Tulsa narrowly lost to Temple University 38-37 in an overtime thriller at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Saturday (October 25) during Tulsa's 100th Homecoming weekend. The game marked Tulsa's highest-scoring game of the season, with the Golden Hurricane amassing 37 points.
In an intense game, Tulsa's quarterback, Braylon Hayes, delivered a crucial touchdown pass to receiver Brayden Foley in overtime, bringing the score to 38-37. However, the subsequent two-point conversion attempt failed, sealing the victory for Temple. According to ESPN, Tulsa recorded 436 total yards, while Temple gained 447 yards. Despite the loss, Tulsa had a slight edge in possession time, holding the ball for 31 minutes and 48 seconds compared to Temple's 28 minutes and 12 seconds.
The game was a closely contested battle, with Tulsa achieving 22 first downs to Temple's 25. Both teams faced challenges with penalties, with Tulsa incurring 87 yards from seven penalties and Temple 51 yards from six penalties. The match highlighted Tulsa's offensive capabilities, though the team will need to address defensive strategies moving forward.
Tulsa will be off this week, before returning to action on November 8 against Florida Atlantic.
