Three people were wounded in a shooting on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma early this morning.
Police say it happened about 3:40 this morning at Carreker Hall, with the shooting starting inside the building and ending outside in a parking lot. At least one of the victims was said to be a student at the university. Two of the victims remain hospitalized, while the third was released from a hospital after treatment.
It is unclear what led to the shooting. Police say the suspect fled the campus after the shooting.
“The safety and well-being of the Cowboy family is our highest priority. We are committed to providing the resources and support needed to ensure the ongoing health and safety of our campus community," said OSU President Jim Hess. “We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the OSU Police Department for its immediate, professional and thorough response this morning in ensuring our campus was safe. We also thank the Stillwater Police Department and all first responders and partner agencies assisting with the investigation. We will share details provided by investigators when they are available.”
"Sarah and I are praying for everyone at Oklahoma State after this morning’s incident," said Governor Kevin Stitt. "The State is coordinating with university officials & providing support in the investigation. OSU has confirmed the campus is safe. We’re grateful for the quick response from local law enforcement."
