The University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane lost their first road game of the season to New Mexico State, falling 21-14 on Saturday night (September 6) at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The defeat moves Tulsa to a 1-1 record, while the Aggies remain undefeated at 2-0.

New Mexico State's Logan Fife played a crucial role in the victory, throwing a 15-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Harris late in the fourth quarter. This decisive play capped off a 75-yard drive in 11 plays, giving the Aggies a 21-14 lead with just over three minutes left in the game. Fife completed 27 of 44 passes for 248 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown to Donovan Faupel earlier in the third quarter, putting the Aggies ahead 10-7.

Tulsa's Baylor Hayes contributed significantly to his team's efforts, completing 13 passes and rushing for a 24-yard touchdown that initially gave the Golden Hurricane a 7-3 lead in the third quarter. Hayes also connected with Brody Foley for an 18-yard touchdown pass, putting Tulsa ahead 14-13 with just over seven minutes remaining. However, the Aggies' late-game rally proved too much for Tulsa to overcome.

New Mexico State's Ryan Hawk added two field goals, one from 46 yards in the first quarter and another from 38 yards in the fourth quarter, helping to maintain the Aggies' momentum throughout the game. Despite Tulsa's efforts, they were unable to regain the lead after Harris's touchdown.

The Golden Hurricane will look to rebound in their next game when they host Navy on Saturday.
