Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has agreed to a four-year, $48 million extension, which will include $30 million guaranteed, his agents, Zac Hiller and Matt Leist of Loyalty Above All, confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday (August 13).
"A deal has been reached: Two-time Pro Bowl RB James Cook and the Buffalo Bills reached agreement a contract extension, per his agents Zac Hiller and Matt Leist of LAA. The deal includes the most guaranteed money for a running back in the last five years," Schefter wrote on his X account. "Terms: James Cook is signing a four-year, $48 million extension that includes $30 million guaranteed. 'James could only envision himself as a Buffalo Bill,” said agent Zac Hiller of LAA, who negotiated the deal. 'We are extremely thankful to the entire Bills organization and glad we could make that happen.”
Cook was staging a hold-in, reporting to training camp but not participating in practice until Tuesday (August 12) while seeking a new deal. The 25-year-old became eligible for an extension this offseason after being selected by the Bills at No. 63 overall in the second-round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Cook recorded 1,009 yards and a league-best 16 touchdowns on 207 rushing attempts, as well as 32 receptions for 258 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season, as well as 272 yards and three touchdowns on 272 rushing attempts in three playoff games.
