A new data center is set to be developed in northern Tulsa County, Oklahoma, on a 500-acre site between 76th and 86th Streets North and between Sheridan and Yale. The Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission has approved the rezoning of the land from agricultural to industrial use, paving the way for the construction of the facility.

The project, known as "Project Clydesdale," is being managed by attorney Lou Reynolds, who represents the developer. While the company behind the project has not been disclosed, Reynolds assured the commission that the data center would not negatively impact the nearby neighborhood or strain local utilities. The center will utilize City of Tulsa water from an existing 48-inch water line on the site, ensuring no disruption to the nearest neighbors' rural water supply.

The development will feature four large buildings and a new substation installed by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO). Reynolds mentioned that significant investments would be made to enhance PSO's system and improve reliability. The project is expected to provide substantial economic benefits, including $40 million in wages for electric workers and six months of work for 100 to 150 ironworkers. Additionally, the property taxes from the site will benefit Owasso Public Schools, which has expressed support for the rezoning.

The data center is part of a broader trend of tech infrastructure development in the region. Although Tulsa and Oklahoma do not currently have a major data center ecosystem, other projects, such as the Meta-linked "Project Anthem," are also underway. The construction of the new data center is anticipated to contribute significantly to the local economy and create numerous high-paying jobs.
