Tulsa Police are investigating an ambush on first responders that occurred near 56th and Harvard in South Tulsa on Sunday afternoon. Officers responded to a call about a jogger who had been shot in the leg. As they assisted the injured jogger, the suspect emerged from behind a fire truck and began firing at the officers.
The suspect then fled the scene in a car, leading police on a pursuit that ended in a cul-de-sac near 56th and Delaware. There, the suspect fired at officers again, prompting an officer to return fire, fatally wounding the suspect. The suspect's identity has been confirmed, but police are withholding the name until they notify the next of kin and determine a motive.
The jogger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and no officers or other individuals were harmed during the incident. According to "2 News Oklahoma," the officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.
