The Oklahoma City Thunder are set to host the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals tonight (May 22) at Paycom Center. The Thunder lead the series 1-0 after a commanding 114-88 victory in Game 1.

In Game 1, the Thunder showcased their defensive prowess, holding the Timberwolves to just 20 points in the paint, a significant drop from their usual performance. The Thunder's defense ranks first among playoff teams, boasting a defensive rating of 100.7, and they excel in forcing turnovers and limiting opponent shooting percentages. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to be a key offensive player for Oklahoma City.

The Timberwolves, who have been strong offensively since March, struggled to find their rhythm in the first game. Despite a strong performance from Julius Randle, who scored 28 points, the Timberwolves' shooters have gone cold, impacting their ability to capitalize on the Thunder's defensive strategy.

Minnesota's late-season surge saw them rise from the play-in tournament to the No. 6 seed, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors to reach the conference finals. Their improved offense, led by Randle and Anthony Edwards, has been a key factor in their success. However, they face a tough challenge against the top-seeded Thunder, who have been the best team in the NBA since March.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.

The Thunder are favored to win, with odds set at 7.5 points in their favor. The Timberwolves will need to adjust their strategy and improve their shooting to even the series before heading back to Minnesota for Game 3.
