A technical glitch in Oklahoma's medical marijuana licensing system led to the cancellation of thousands of business licenses, as reported by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) on Wednesday (May 14). The issue arose from a problem with their third-party licensing platform, Thentia. Despite receiving cancellation notices, affected businesses can continue operating while OMMA works to resolve the issue with the vendor.
OMMA has assured businesses that they are actively investigating the cause of the glitch and have plans to launch a new licensing software platform in the next fiscal year. Businesses that received cancellation notices are encouraged to report the issue through OMMA's contact form.
In addition to the glitch, OMMA warned about a scam where individuals posing as OMMA agents demand money from licensed businesses. OMMA emphasized that it would never request payments over the phone and urged businesses to report any suspicious calls.
