A tragic scene unfolded in downtown Tulsa early Sunday when gunfire erupted, leaving one person dead and six others injured. The incident occurred near 2nd Street and Elgin Avenue, where a large crowd had gathered, leading to chaos and violence. According to Tulsa police, the situation escalated around 12:30 a.m. when multiple individuals began shooting into and out of the crowd.

Tulsa police officers, who were already present due to the size of the gathering, responded swiftly. Officers engaged two armed suspects during the chaos. One suspect was shot and injured while fleeing, and the second suspect was fatally shot after being identified as a threat from behind the officers.

At least five people were struck by gunfire, with injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to serious. Police have not yet made any arrests and are actively seeking surveillance footage from nearby businesses to aid their investigation. KJRH reported that the officers involved in the shootings have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is reviewed by the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office.

Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols expressed his condolences, stating, "The overnight shooting in downtown was a senseless act of violence in our community, and my thoughts are with everyone involved." Police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
