In Garner, North Carolina, siblings Paola Duran Duran, 25, and Miguel Angel Duran Duran, 23, are facing serious charges after allegedly kidnapping a woman and her 11-month-old daughter. The incident occurred after the family reportedly refused to pay a $1 million ransom demand. Both siblings were arrested on Tuesday (April 29) and are charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of second-degree kidnapping.
The siblings appeared in Wake County court via video from jail and learned they could face up to 231 months in prison if convicted. The incident began late Monday night (April 28) when the suspects allegedly broke into a home on Buck Branch Drive in Garner, demanding $1 million from the husband. When he could not provide the money, the suspects reportedly restrained him with duct tape and abducted his wife and daughter. An AMBER Alert was issued, and the victims were found safe the following morning in Wake Forest after seeking help from a neighbor.
Both Paola and Miguel Duran Duran are being held without bond due to their status as flight risks and are scheduled to appear in court again on May 21. Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman emphasized the rarity of such violence in the community and assured that efforts are ongoing to bring all responsible parties to justice.
A third suspect, Eleodoro "Leo" Estrada-Hernandez, 37, remains at large. He faces multiple charges, including kidnapping and firearm possession.
The FBI, Garner Police Department, and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are actively searching for Estrada-Hernandez, offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Authorities describe him as 5-foot-4, weighing 190 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and multiple tattoos on his forearm.
