A new national poll showed how Americans view President Donald Trump's handling of various key issues at the 100-day mark of his second of two non-consecutive terms.
The latest Emerson College Polling national survey shows Trump has a higher disapproval rating for most key issues, excluding immigration policy and higher education, both of which scored a 45% approval rating. The president was reported to have a 49% disapproval rating for his handling of the U.S. economy; a 51% disapproval for his tariff policy; a 46% disapproval for his deportation policy; a 46% disapproval for his foreign policy; a 46% disapproval for his handling of the Israel/Hamas War; a 52% disapproval for his handling of the Russia/Ukraine War; and a 35% disapproval for cryptocurrency.
Trump is, however, even at a 45% approval and 45% disapproval for his overall job performance, with 10% of respondents neutral, seeing his approval rating only decrease by 2% since the 50-day mark. Voters who participated in the 2024 election mostly said they would still stick with their original choice with Trump still edging former Vice President Kamala Harris by a 48% to 47% margin.
“Despite several unpopular domestic and foreign policies, President Trump still holds an entrenched base of voters who, if given the chance, say they would vote for him again,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling. “Areas of concern for the president include economic and foreign policy, with voters disapproving of his actions on tariffs and in the Russia-Ukraine war, while voters continue to be divided on immigration and deportation policy.”
