The Tulsa Zoo is set to welcome two new members to its Asian elephant herd later this year. Billy, a 40-year-old bull, and Tina, a 59-year-old female, will be relocating from the Los Angeles Zoo to the Tulsa Zoo's new Mary K. and John T. Oxley Family Elephant Experience and Elephant Preserve. This addition marks a significant expansion of the zoo's elephant program.

The move is part of the zoo's ongoing efforts to enhance its facilities and provide a more naturalistic environment for its animals. The new elephant preserve aims to offer a spacious and enriching habitat for the elephants, allowing them to thrive and engage in natural behaviors.

The Tulsa Zoo, owned by the City of Tulsa and managed by Tulsa Zoo Management, Inc., a nonprofit organization, is committed to conservation and education. The arrival of Billy and Tina will not only bolster the zoo's elephant population but also provide visitors with the opportunity to learn more about these majestic creatures and the challenges they face in the wild.

While the exact date of the elephants' arrival has not been announced, the zoo is preparing to welcome them with open arms. The relocation of Billy and Tina is expected to draw significant attention from both the local community and visitors from afar, eager to see the new additions to the zoo's family.
