The Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum's 30th anniversary ceremony, originally planned to be held outdoors, will now take place indoors due to weather concerns. The event is scheduled for Saturday (April 19) at the First Church located at the corner of NW 5th St. and Robinson Ave. Attendees are advised to enter through the west doors, while ADA accessibility is available on the east side of the church.
The ceremony will feature former President Bill Clinton as the keynote speaker, along with 168 moments of silence to honor those who lost their lives in the Oklahoma City bombing. Family members, survivors, and community leaders will also share remarks during the event. Following the indoor ceremony, guests will be led to the Field of Empty Chairs by the Oklahoma Fire Pipes and Drums.
According to the Memorial Museum, the museum will be open free of charge after the ceremony, courtesy of Cox Community Day. The event is not ticketed, allowing everyone to participate in the commemoration. Education programs are also being held throughout the week leading up to the anniversary.
Officials have prioritized the safety and comfort of attendees in making the decision to move the ceremony indoors. The doors of the First Church will open to the public at 8 a.m., with the ceremony beginning at 8:45 a.m.
