Parts of Northeast Oklahoma are recovering after a tornado moved through earlier this morning. There is damage to homes in the Owasso area north and west of Highway 169, where some roof damage was reported and trees have fallen into buildings. Downed powerlines have been seen in several locations, as well. Police were warning people to stay away from those areas.
A tornado that passed near the Whirlpool plant west of Owasso along Highway 75 left several empty semi-trailers flipped over. The main building had minor damage, and the plant will be closed for the day.
The storms also left thousands of homes and businesses without power. As of 10 a.m. more than 5,000 customers were still without electricity across the state.
