Tulsa Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on Sunday evening in the parking lot of a QuikTrip near East 11th Street and South Garnett Road. Officers responded to the scene around 7:45 p.m. after reports of a disturbance, where they found a man with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police say the altercation escalated into gunfire, and the suspect fled the scene. However, with the help of a Tulsa Police Department helicopter, officers quickly located and detained the suspect. The police have not yet released the names of the suspect or the victim, as they continue to investigate the incident.
Homicide detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station and interviewing witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. Sgt. Wyett Poth of the Tulsa Police assured the public that "there is no further threat," and they are confident they have the shooter in custody, although charges have not yet been filed.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive behind the disturbance. 2 News Oklahoma reports that the victim's family was present at the scene on Sunday night, but no further details have been released.
