Wildfires in Pawnee County have forced residents to evacuate as flames spread rapidly overnight. The Pawnee County Emergency Manager reported that the fire is only about 15% contained, with crews from the Oklahoma Forestry Service assisting local firefighters near Keystone Dam. High winds, reaching up to 50 mph, have complicated efforts to control the blaze, with several volunteer fire departments working tirelessly since early morning.

Residents in affected areas, including Oak Grove and Westport, have been urged to evacuate and seek shelter at designated sites like the Mannford Methodist Church and the Tank & Tummy in Westport.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management has activated the State Emergency Operations Center to coordinate response efforts. A red flag warning remains in effect due to gusty winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation, increasing the risk of further fire spread. The state has declared a State of Emergency for 12 counties, including Pawnee, allowing for emergency purchases and resource allocation.

Evacuees are receiving support from the Red Cross and other organizations, with shelters providing cots, showers, and meals. The situation remains dynamic, with authorities closely monitoring the fire and urging residents to follow safety directives and stay clear of fire zones.
