The University of Oklahoma men's basketball team was eliminated from the SEC Tournament after a narrow 85-84 loss to Kentucky on Thursday night (March 13) in Nashville, Tennessee. Jeremiah Fears led the Sooners with an impressive 28 points, but it was not enough to secure the win. The game ended dramatically with former Oklahoma player Otega Oweh scoring the winning shot for Kentucky in the final seconds.
Oklahoma had managed to claw back from a 10-point deficit with just over a minute remaining, thanks to Fears' crucial plays, including a go-ahead layup with six seconds left. However, Oweh received the inbound pass and dashed to the opposite baseline, sinking a shot over Jalon Moore's hand to clinch the victory for Kentucky. Oweh finished the game with 27 points on 8-for-14 shooting.
Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser expressed disappointment but praised his team's resilience. "We just continued to keep fighting," Moser said. "We did a great job of fighting throughout the last three to four minutes."
Despite the loss, Oklahoma's performance in recent games has been strong, with the team going 4-3 over the past seven games. The Sooners now hold a 20-13 record overall and await their fate on Selection Sunday, with most experts predicting they will make it to the tournament.
