The Oklahoma Supreme Court is halting a request for proposals to purchase and place Bibles in schools. The order also stops a directive for schools to come up with a curriculum to accompany the Bibles. State Superintendent Ryan Walters and the state department of education plan to purchase 55,000 Bibles for fifth through 12th grade classrooms in public schools. The court order follows Walters' announcement last week of a new partnership between the Oklahoma State Department of Education and musician Lee Greenwood where the public can buy Bibles and donate them to Oklahoma schools.
