AT&T is phasing out its landline phone service for much of the country, including here in Oklahoma. The Dallas based company operates landline services in 21 states, but the plan is to eliminate that service everywhere but California over the next four years. The company says their copper wire infrastructure is antiquated at 70-years old, and is becoming less reliable. They say they can provide better service through their fiber and wireless broadband networks. A recent study from the national Chamber of Commerce found just under 22-percent of Oklahomans still have landline service, one of the lowest percentages in the country.
