Authorities in New York City are looking for a man and a woman accused of stealing and crashing a subway train. Officials said that the two suspects entered the Briarwood subway station in Queens just after midnight last Thursday (September 12) and entered an out-of-service subway train.
The suspects managed to get the train operational and moved it forward about 50 feet before crashing. After the crash, the two suspects fled the scene.
The New York City Police Department released surveillance camera footage of the two suspects. The first suspect was dressed in all pink with a pink sleeveless shirt, pink shorts, and a pink shower cap. They were also carrying a pink handbag. The second suspect was wearing a blue tank top and red shorts and was carrying a black backpack.
Officials said the train sustained damage in the crash but noted that nobody was injured.
It is unclear how the pair managed to get the subway train operational.
"There's no question it was an extremely foolish and reckless act by two individuals accessing live track in order to get access to our train," Demetrius Crichlow, interim president of New York City Transit, said on Wednesday.
