The City of Claremore says it was deeply honored to count original Jackson 5 member Tito Jackson as one of its residents. The 70-year-old Jackson died Sunday. He suffered a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to his home in Claremore.

A Facebook post by the City of Claremore says Jackson touched the hearts of many people throughout Claremore and the Tulsa region, and that he brought a sense of connection, joy and inspiration that will forever be treasured. The City says it is committed to preserving Jackson's legacy and the lasting imprint he left on the City.

Jackson was planning several projects, including developing a business in downtown Tulsa, in addition to a television show.

The third of ten children in the famous Jackson family, Tito was an original member of the Jackson 5, who rose to fame in the late 1960s and 1970s. An accomplished guitarist, after The Jacksons left Motown Records for Columbia Records, Tito began playing guitar and other instruments on their albums. Motown used sessions musicians for their previous albums.
