A judge will decide whether a recount is needed in the Tulsa mayor race. Brent VanNorman came in a close third in last week's election and is requesting a recount.
VanNorman's campaign has issued a statement that says they trust the process, but with the narrow margin involved, a recount is justified and necessary. VanNorman finished 710 votes behind Monroe Nichols and 438 votes behind Karen Keith.
The campaign points out they won the most precincts in the race and they're claiming a quote, "strong groundswell" of support encouraging them to call for the recount.
Nichols and Keith both issued statements saying they're confident in the initial results and are looking forward to their runoff in November.
The VanNorman campaign paid an initital fee to get the recount, but if it takes place it will cost taxpayers up to 12,000 per day.
