The Oklahoma State Department of Education is the subject of a federal review. A report released in July by the U.S. Department of Education highlighted 52 fiscal and program monitoring indicators. Areas with the lowest rankings included internal controls, audit requirements, personnel, allocations of finances, and charter school oversight. The review noted that the Oklahoma State Department of Education was failing to meet Title One requirements in schoolwide programs, targeted assistance programs, and support for school improvements.
