Cushing Interim City Manager Derek Griffith says he's hopeful the town's water treatment plant will begin producing water late today or early Thursday. But he warns it will still be 'some time' before that plant is back to full operational capacity. The plant basement flooded Sunday, causing major damage. Griffith says stored water has run out and there will be 'progressive' outages throughout the day. He says a drinking water 'fill' site will be open daily at the city's public safety center until service is restored.

"Today, we will test our resolve as a community, but I believe Cushing has an innate sense of community strength that will allow us to overcome this emergency. As Thomas Fuller said, “It is darkest before the dawn.” Although the situation may seem at its worst, relief is in sight. We are very close to having the water supply restored," said Cushing Commissioner B.J. Roberson.
