The Kansas City Royals were handed a loss in their series opener against the Red Sox. Kansas City lost to Boston 9-5 at Kauffman Stadium. Vinnie Pasquantino hit his 16th home run of the season in the setback. Starting pitcher Brady Singer was charged with the loss and dropped to 8-and-7 after allowing four runs through five-and-two-thirds innings. The Royals have lost two of three and sit third in the AL Central at 63-and-51. They host the Red Sox again tonight. Right-hander Seth Lugo will start opposite Boston righty Brayan Bello.
