Oklahoma leaders are welcoming the news that US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned.

Fifth District Congresswoman Stephanie Bice says she is relieved by the news. Cheatle has been under fire since the assignation attempt on former President Trump. Bice says the Secret Service has a no-fail mission, and unfortunately they failed.

Second District Congressman Josh Brecheen says he's also glad that Cheatle has resigned. He says accountability starts at the top, but he also says more needs to be done to ensure what happened at the Trump rally in Pennsylvania never happens again.

Senator Markwayne Mullin says Congress needs to focus on learning the precise origins of the security breakdown.

Cheatle testified before Congress yesterday and provided few details about the event, angering many lawmakers. In a post on X, President Biden thanked Cheatle for her public service. He added that the independent review of the assassination attempt is ongoing.
