Texas leaders are condemning Saturday's assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Shortly after the shooting in Pennsylvania, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan called it a "horrible and scary situation." Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said it was a "miracle" that Trump survived. Attorney General Ken Paxton and Senator Ted Cruz both thanked God that the former president wasn't seriously hurt. Gov. Greg Abbott posted, "They try to jail him. They try to kill him. It will not work. He is indomitable."

Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez said political violence is never the answer, and everyone must unite against it in any form. Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz, a Republican, said regardless of political affiliation, everyone can agree there is no place for that kind of violence in the United States.

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg is condemning Saturday's assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. In an X post, Nirenberg said it was a "devastating day for America." The mayor said political violence is always unacceptable. He wished Trump a "swift recovery," and said he was praying for the victims of the shooting, as well as for Pennsylvania and the nation. One person attending Trump's rally was killed and two were critically wounded.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire says Saturday's assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump is "unacceptable." Whitmire issued a statement in which he said he's glad to know Trump is okay after the attempt on his life during a rally in Pennsylvania. Whitmire asked Houston residents to condemn the violence and pray for the victims.
