Josh Smith hit a pair of two-run homers to propel the Rangers to a win over the in-state rival Astros. Smith finished with all four RBIs as Texas took down Houston 4-2 in the series finale at Minute Maid Park. Marcus Semien recorded the Rangers' only other hit of the game on a lead-off single to start the game. Josh Sborz earned his second win following two scoreless innings of relief. Kirby Yates notched his 16th save to help Texas win the three-game set. The Rangers enter the All-Star break third in the AL West at 46-and-50. Jake Meyers hit his 10th home run of the season for Houston in the setback. Ronel Blanco was charged with the loss on the mound. The Astros sit second in the division at 50-and-46.
