A shooting on the campus of Rose State College in Midwest City has left one person dead. The college issued an Active Shooter Alert just after noon today.
"We are currently experiencing an active shooter situation on campus. Please shelter in place and follow instructions from law enforcement officials. More information to follow as it becomes available," said the college in its alert.
The college tweeted, "We understand that many of you may have questions about the ongoing situation on campus. We ask that you please refrain from speculation and follow the instructions of law enforcement officials. We will provide updates as soon as we can."
The college later tweeted, "All buildings are clear; lockdown has ended. Please exit the campus. Please avoid the area south of Humanities and Administration Building. All activities and classes for the remainder of Monday, April 24 are cancelled."
It turns out to have been an isolated incident. One person was killed in the shooting and a suspect was taken into custody in what appears to have been a domestic situation.
Nearby Mid-Del high schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
