High fire danger and gusty winds led to dozens of wildfires in Oklahoma today. Damage assessment is still ongoing but more than 30 homes were destroyed Logan County alone. Homes were also damaged or destroyed in other locations throughout the state as dozens of wildfires raged. More than 30 injuries were reported statewide.

The Oklahoma Forestry services reported 97 fires on Friday. Fires were reported in 27 counties. The Forestry Service said, "Extreme fire weather yesterday prompted accelerated drying across the landscape with most notable effects in western and northcentral Oklahoma. Simply put, less significant fire weather will be required in the coming days to generate problematic fire behavior and fire suppression challenges."

Governor Kevin Stitt tweeted, "Pay attention to any evacuation orders in your area and leave as soon as evacuation orders are recommended by local officials."
