Oklahoma lawmakers are reacting to reports that former President Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury.

"Radical leftists have been going after President Trump since day one - this sham of an indictment is no different," said Senator Markwayne Mullin. "Instead of blindly attacking the 45th President, DA Alvin Bragg should address the skyrocketing crime epidemic in his own backyard - a direct result of soft-on-crime policies. This latest witch-hunt will only make President Trump stronger."

“This is a sad day for America. In my opinion, the indictment of former President Trump is politically motivated, legally dubious and unlikely to prevail in court,” said Congressman Tom Cole.

“Politically motivated witch hunts against President Trump or any other former President or presidential candidate is a serious abuse of power," said Congressman Josh Brecheen. "House Republicans are committed to investigating if any federal funds are being used by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his office to target President Trump for the purpose of interfering in our elections. I urge Democrats to join Republicans in condemning this baseless act of political persecution and commit to upholding the integrity of our elections and Republic."

The indictment of former President Trump marks the first criminal case against a former U.S. president. Trump has already weighed in, calling it "political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history."

Meanwhile, there are more investigations of Trump currently underway. The Justice Department is looking into how the former President handled classified documents that were found in his Mar-a-Lago home, and his role in the January 6th attack. And a grand jury in Georgia investigated whether Trump and his allies illegally interfered in the 2020 election.
