The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame has announced plans for a new statue of country music legend Merle Haggard that will go in the Muskogee Civic Center. That's the same venue where Haggard recorded a live version of his huge hit "Okie from Muskogee." That concert was released as an album by the same name in 1969. Haggard was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, located in Muskogee, in 1997. He died on his birthday, April 6th, in 2016. No timeline has been set for the statue to be unveiled.
