A bank robbery suspect from Kansas is dead after exchanging gunfire with Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers.

The suspect was wanted for allegedly robbing the Impact Bank in Wellington, Kansas where he told the bank teller he had a bomb. No one was injured in the robbery, but police were able to obtain a suspect description, which led them to track him down.

OHP was notified by Kansas officials that the suspect was heading south on I-35.

There was gunfire exchanged in the pursuit. When the pursuit ended in Noble County at the I-35/Highway 412 interchange, the suspect tried to flee on foot while firing at police once again. That's when he was shot and killed.

The suspect's name has not been released. The FBI and OHP are investigating.
