Oklahoma's only female death row inmate is dealt a legal setback. The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver decided yesterday to uphold the death sentence of Brenda Andrew, saying that her trial was not perfect, but it was fundamentally fair. The former Oklahoma City Sunday school teacher was convicted of working with her lover, James Pavatt, to plot and kill her estranged husband, Rob Andrew, for his life insurance policy in 2001. Brenda Andrew's team says they will continue to fight for a new trial by taking their case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
