A state lawmaker is looking to strengthen Oklahoma's seat-belt law. According to Senator Roland Pederson, Oklahoma is the only one state in the nation that doesn't require kids above the age of eight to buckle up. His proposal, Senate Bill 681, reportedly would address that issue by requiring those 16 and younger to wear seat belts in a vehicle's back seat. Current state law requires only the driver and front-seat passengers to be buckled up, with a rear-seatbelt requirement applying to children eight and younger.
