The U.S. Justice Department is announcing an investigation into the State of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, and the O-K-C Police Department. Federal officials are looking into the response by O-K-C-P-D to mental health crises, which they allege could lead to "unnecessary admissions to psychiatric facilities and police contact." The D-O-J says they are also investigating if the state has failed to provide community-based mental health services in Oklahoma County. The Justice Department will be in contact with Oklahoma City residents and community groups as part of the investigation.
