President Donald Trump's motorcade reached speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour on Thursday as stormy weather forced a last-minute change in travel plans. Originally scheduled to fly from Denton, Texas, to Durant, Oklahoma, President Trump instead traveled by road due to inclement weather. The distance between the two locations is approximately 90 miles.
President Trump took to Truth Social to share that "The Beast," the presidential vehicle, was going "faster than it has ever gone before." He emphasized his determination to reach Oklahoma, stating, "They wanted me to postpone the event, and I said, 'NO WAY, I’M GOING TO OKLAHOMA!'"
Upon arriving in Durant about two hours late, President Trump addressed the crowd, explaining that he refused to cancel the rally. He mentioned that his decision to make the trip was not due to the candidates needing his help but because he had won Oklahoma in all three of his presidential campaigns. Trump proudly noted, "We got the most votes ever in the state history all three times, and we won all 77 out of 77 counties."
The rally in Durant was in support of Oklahoma GOP gubernatorial nominee Mike Mazzei. Despite the weather and travel delays, many supporters waited in the rain to hear President Trump and other speakers.
Meanwhile, a protest formed in Durant, with demonstrators opposing President Trump's policies.
