A Delaware County man has been sentenced to 52 months in federal prison for threatening to murder Congressman Josh Brecheen. The U.S. Department of Justice announced the sentencing for 35-year-old Chad Allen Haeberle on Friday, following his guilty plea to charges of cyberstalking and making threats.

Haeberle sent a series of threatening emails over a seven-month period, targeting Congressman Brecheen, who represents Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District. In one email, Haeberle stated, "I will literally murder you and you should take this as a serious and credible threat." Despite being arrested, Haeberle continued his threatening rhetoric while in custody.

The case was handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma. Haeberle's actions have been described as a serious threat to public officials, highlighting the ongoing concerns about the safety of elected representatives.

Congressman Brecheen, a Republican, has been serving in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 2023 and is currently running for re-election in the upcoming November 2026 general election.
