Voters in Oklahoma City are heading to the polls today to decide the fate of a proposed new arena for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The measure calls for using sales tax revenue to fund a $900 million arena.
The issue calls for a 72-month, one-cent sales tax to help fund the arena. In addition to the sales tax, the new arena would be paid for with $70 million in MAPS4 funding and $50 million from the Thunder ownership group. The team also would agree to stay in the city for at least 25 years.
Polling places in Oklahoma City are open from 7 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. today.
