State Leaders To Use Emergency Funds For Food Assistance

Oklahoma leaders are approving emergency funding for food assistance. The move comes as hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans have lost SNAP benefits due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. At a special meeting of the state Contingency Review Board, Governor Kevin Stitt, House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, and Senate President Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton voted to spend $1 million per week from the state's emergency fund to help cover food aid.
