Oklahoma Sooners Fall To Missouri Tigers

The Oklahoma Sooners came up short in a game against the Missouri Tigers on Saturday night in Columbia, Missouri. Missouri beat Oklahoma 30 to 23.

Jackson Arnold completed 15 of 24 passes for 74 yards, rushed 17 times for 45 yards and caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from RB Taylor Tatum. It was Arnold’s first career pass reception and first receiving touchdown.

Defensive back Billy Bowman gave Oklahoma a 23-16 lead with his 43-yard fumble return for a touchdown with 2:00 left in the game. It was his third career fumble recovery and second this year. The touchdown was the first of his career on a fumble recovery and his fourth career defensive TD overall. He finished the game with five tackles and one tackle for loss.

R Mason Thomas notched his team-leading seventh sack of the season on a fourth-quarter play. He now has 8.5 career sacks and a team-high 7.0 this season. Six of the sacks have come in the fourth quarter with OU protecting a lead. He finished with two tackles, a sack, 1.5 tackles for loss and a QB hurry.

Through eight games this season, OU has allowed only 19 touchdowns on its opponents’ 113 offensive possessions (17%).

Missouri converted 11 of 19 third downs (58%), breaking a streak of 23 games in which Oklahoma held opponents to a 44% or lower third-down conversion rate (dating back to the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl vs. Florida State). Prior to tonight, OU had held each of its nine opponents this season to a third-down conversion rate of 38% or lower.

This was the 97th meeting between Oklahoma and Missouri, and first since the 2011 season. The Sooners lead the series 67-25-5.

The Sooners, who are now 5 and 5 on the season, will have a week off before hosting Alabama on on November 23.
