Tulsa Public School officials say they are teaming up with the Tulsa Police Department to beef up security at schools following a series of recent threats.

"We are partnering in this effort because we know it is going to take this level of collaboration," said Tulsa School District Superintendent Dr. Ebony Johnson.

Johnson says following the fall break, they will start using wand metal detectors on students at all middle and high schools. She said the reason they aren't starting immediately is because of the need to shift resources and personnel.

Tulsa Police Chief Dennis Larson also had a warning for anyone considering making a threat through social media.

"We have a very aggressive cyber program with the Tulsa Police Department. If you make a threat via social media, texting, etc. we are going to find you," said Larson.
